I have a new website, what do I need to do in getting a feed of the listings to display?

  • Decide if you will be adding an out-of-the-box IDX product to your site or if you will be hiring a developer to create one from scratch for you.
  • If you are hiring a developer, they will need to be able to build-out the User Interface for search and display on your website.
    • Then they will need to decide if they want to work with API or RETS data. API is the better technology. We recommend API if possible.
    • Next, once you know which kind of data your developer would like to use, you will need to reach out to your MLS Administrator (not Flexmls, we just provide the software) to obtain the necessary approval forms to license the data on your behalf.
    • Once your MLS Administrator approves your application to license the data, they can inform FBS/Flexmls to issue the appropriate data feed to your developer.
  • If you are working with a 3rd party IDX product provider (out-of-the-box, plugs into your website) then they will also need a data feed on your behalf to power their product. The vendor will be able to provide instructions on what they need and how to go through that process but typically, again, it begins with contacting your MLS Administrator to work through the approvals process for a data feed to be issued to your vendor on your behalf.
  • If you are subscribing to an FBS Products IDX solution (Flexmls IDX) then we will take care of everything for you. Just choose the right product for you and we’ll lead you through the rest of the process. Email idx@flexmls.com for more information.
